Big Blu Dive CEntre Location
Big Blu Mafia Island Dive Centre is situated in the Marine Park in Utende, which is in the South-East of Mafia Island. We enjoy a beachfront location with uninterrupted views over Chole Bay. Chole Bay is a designated Marine Park and, as such, all visitors are required to pay a daily entrance fee when they pass through the Marine Park gates (approximately 0.5km before reaching Big Blu).
We offer a wide variety of activities and excursions from diving, snorkelling and also land based tours.
FACILITIES at Big Blu Dive CEntre
Big Blu Mafia Island Dive Centre is a large, fully equipped Dive Centre. Diving equipment is available to hire, or you are welcome to bring your own. Most of the equipment that we use is Scubapro, with most equipment having been purchased in 2015 and 2016.
We take pride in making sure that our equipment is well-maintained and looked after. Within the Dive Centre, there is a large wet-room for guests to hang and store their hired or personal diving equipment during their stay with us.
Our Boats
We have several dhows (traditional wooden boats) and a fibreglass boat. The traditional dhows are a spacious and relaxing way to travel to dive sites. If the wind is good, then we can even sail! The fibreglass boat is used mainly for transport to and from the land-based excursions.
